Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) is an alternative way to incorporate infra-red spectra. The infrared light is passed through an interferometer. The signal is directly measured and showed by a computer.
Because an interferometer is cheaper than a monochromator, is a FTIR instrument not only faster but also cheaper than a traditional device. For these reasons almost all modern infrared spectrometers are of the FTIR type.
- Simultaneous, real-time measurement of multiple components, wherein no condensation occurs. The measurements happen quickly and accurately.
- For calibration, there is no span gas required, only a zero-point calibration is sufficient. The calibration is done on the basis of physical constant (absorption of the gas molecule)
- The concentration of water is measured simultaneously·
- Results can be displayed both on dry and on wet basis
- All information is stored as a whole spectrum.
